Welcome

It is hard for many of us to acknowledge that something in our life needs to change, but at some point, we realize there is a gap between where we are and where we wish to be. Asking for help to narrow or eliminate that gap is a truly strong and courageous act. I respect you for making the choice to do something different in your life and would be honored to join you in that process.

Treatment philosophy

It is my belief that effective therapy instills hope and encourages one to create a practice of gentle self-awareness which will naturally result in changed behaviors. My goal is to help you achieve your goals. While I have some expertise in the field of psychology, you are the expert on yourself and your own lived experience. In order for therapy to be effective, I believe that therapist and client must work together collaboratively. My stance is direct and supportive, gently pushing you to reach deeper and into new growth.

Specialties

Kylie’s clinical practice spans a broad array of presenting problems. However, she has a special expertise in the areas noted below.

Addiction

Recovery from addiction of any kind (drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, work) is difficult to achieve, and the best outcomes will result from working with someone who deeply understands the nuances of substance or process misuse and is able to balance challenge with compassion for the struggles underlying the disease. Addiction has been a focus of my professional career, and I believe that I can help you move into a life that is filled with freedom and joy rather than depression, anxiety, shame, and your substance/process of choice. After darkness there is light.

Three Principles

The Three Principles is an insight-based approach that points us toward our innate health and wellbeing while realizing that our psychological functioning influences and creates our experience. As a Three Principles practitioner, I respect and value your expertise on yourself and will point you toward your wisdom and true nature. I believe that you already have within you all that is needed for your healing.

Elite

If you are a high-profile individual or elite athlete, you know the barriers to seeking help that others may not experience. Prominent clients are a specialty population, which requires a clinician who is skilled in understanding and navigating the unique challenges inherent in this culture. I have enjoyed working with professional athletes, their families, and individuals renowned to their communities for many years with targeted treatment goals and a focus on healing, discretion, optimal performance, and accommodating specific needs in order to make maximum progress.

Relationships

Intimacy is the essence of being human, but how many of us struggle to feel truly connected with others and ourselves? We can work together to improve the quality of your relationships and address ways in which you may be reenacting relational patterns learned much earlier in life. If you struggle with compulsive sexual behaviors or love addiction, we can collaborate on what healthy sex and relationships look like for you and how you can feel relationally and sexually fulfilled while still living within your value system.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

TherapY with Kylie

As a seasoned therapist, I have experience working with a broad range of clients including those struggling with addiction, professional athletes, career-driven individuals, people in the public eye, and those who are simply looking to improve their lives. If there is something in your life that you would like to change or improve, I can help you move closer to your goals in that area. As a psychotherapist, I believe that change is possible, but only when the right elements are present. Therefore, my therapeutic approach is tailored to your specific needs so that you can experience the most growth in the shortest amount of time.

I work within a person-centered framework that integrates the leading models of therapy. I am passionate about providing emotionally reparative and reformative experiences through therapy, and place high value on connecting with you as an individual, building a strong working alliance, and collaborating on therapeutic goals. Together, we will better understand how the problems in your life came to be, learn healthier ways to cope with stressors, overcome challenges, and break through the barriers holding you back from thriving and living your fullest life.

A therapy session with me will be introspective while also dynamic and full of internal movement. Many clients present to therapy having tried everything they could think of on their own, and now feel stuck. Our work together will be supportive of getting “unstuck” and into a more flexible way of thinking and living. Working with your unique strengths and intuition, I will support and coach you toward making the necessary changes in order to create the life you want. This journey looks different for everyone, but some similarities that often arise out of the process of therapy include: making meaning of your experiences, understanding the journey your life has taken thus far, creating a new direction, embracing yourself with self-compassion while striving for more, reaching new limits and cultivating new skills in the process, tolerating discomfort, and facing the shadows that are holding you back. My personal experience and those of the many individuals with whom I’ve had the honor to work have proved that change can happen and choosing to engage with whatever has you stuck today will yield more benefits than you may even think possible right now.

DAHLIA

Dahlia is a 6-year-old Chug (chihuahua/pug) who was adopted from Fur Baby Rescue in downtown LA. She is a therapy dog, who is often present for sessions. She is very affectionate and loves physical contact. In group sessions, Dahlia is known to sit near the person who is struggling the most. Dahlia’s favorite thing to do, other than snuggling, is eating! My clients have reported that Dahlia’s presence enhances their therapeutic work and aids in their emotional regulation when discussing difficult topics. However, if you would prefer not to have her as part of your therapy sessions, just let me know.

Please note: Dahlia does visit each of the office spaces. If you have a pet allergy, please reach out to discuss options.

[Daring greatly] means the courage to be vulnerable. It means to show up and be seen. To ask for what you need. To talk about how you’re feeling. To have the hard conversations.
